We are proudly located in Canberra the capital city of Australia and have been running our Greek School for over 50 years !
The Greek School of Canberra is proudly managed by the Greek Orthodox Community and Church of Canberra and Disctrict Inc.
Welcome to our Greek School ! We have been teaching the Greek language and culture for over 50 years in the nation's capital Canberra.
Our aim is to help parents to teach the language and culture to our kids so that we can continue to have a thriving Greek Community and that we don't lose our important heritage because we live outside of Greece. We are most welcome of kids from all backgrounds, not just Greek kids.
Learning a language is not just limited to those who speak it at home or part of their heritage, speaking another language is a gift for life and there is plenty of evidence that shows learning another language assists with the healthy development of a child's brain in areas such as problem-solving and communication.
We encourage all parents to allow their kids to experience this gift. Enrol now in our Greek School to start the benefits of having the Greek language and culture enrich your life and soul.

Greek School of Canberra Principal
Meet the Teachers
Our teachers are the best ! They are dedicated, hard-working and fun-loving. Each of our teachers are passionate about our Greek language and culture and strive to provide a meaningful learning environment for our kids. Our students love our teachers so much that they will pester their parents to take them to Greek School.
Kalimera everyone I am Anastasia. I have been working with children for over 19 years, 14 of them were in Greece and 5 in Australia as the head Greek educator at the Greek Australian Pre-school and Childcare Centre in Yarralumla and the Greek School of Canberra. My vision for the kids I teach is to be proud of our heritage, culture, history and traditions.
Yasou! I am Kyriá Stella. I have a passion for teaching our children the wonderful Greek language, religion and culture. It is important to me that we pass our knowledge on to our kids and not to forget our important roots that have changed and inspired people the world over.
Kalimera! I am Dora and I spent 23 years teaching English to Greek students. I am now privileged to be teaching Greek to students in Australia. My goal is for my students to learn about their culture, heritage and religion, whilst developing their sense of pride in being Greek.
What Parents Say
Yasou I am Mr Sotiris. I am a professional teacher with many years of experience both in Australia and in Greece. I am very excited to be teaching the Greek language and culture to our next generation. Please come and join our school.
My mother is a teacher and she inspired me to also teach our kids where possible. I am a freelance journalist with the Greek Herald and other important voices for the Greek community. Teaching Greek to our kids is all important to me as this enhances our ability to communicate and retain our important Greek voice in our community.
Kalimera! I am a mathematics university graduate with a specialisation in education. I have tutored the Greek language and Maths while I lived in Greece, and this passion to teach has never left me when I moved to Australia. I love to teach at the Greek School and being able to share our beautiful language and culture beyond the Greek boarders xxoo
“Alex loves to go to Greek School and practice his Greek. He now has confidence to speak to yiayia in Greek instead of answering her in English.”
